Pete came to us as an approx 25 to 27 year old quarter horse gelding. Pete was purchased by Cimarron Equine Sanctuary from an auction in Enumclaw, Washington. We had identified Pete as a prime candidate for a kill buyer to purchase and were able to outbid the kill buyer and Pete came home with us to Cimarron Equine Sanctuary & Center For Learning. The story goes that Pete was an ex rodeo horse, and he has demonstrated his experience. It’s obvious Pete has traveled many miles in life. What I like most about Pete is that he is a problem solver. If he is stuck behind a horse that won't let him have food, he silently moves and convinces the horse to let him in to eat. Pete is a senior horse, and lowest horse in the hierarchy. Pete arrived when he was very thin and had two scars around his head. He was also very head shy. In combination with the head scars it appears as if someone left a halter on him until there were sores. These days Pete is a gem of a horse. Always comes to greet you with his gentle spirit and Petey grin.
